I worked security for both the 2008 & 2010 Mile High Music Festivals. In 2008, I worked at the edge of the stage, and was responsible for who got to go backstage (you'd be surprised how many "cousins" the musicians have; and "NO" $20 will not get you past me!)
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss poster 2008 @Red Rocks
2007--During an intermission, I had the chance to talk with longtime OMD Larry Lee as he was hanging out backstage
2007--shared a smoke with Topley and guitarist Luke Brighty before the show outside Goosetown Tavern, across the street from the Bluebird Theater

Mel & I had comp tickets and backstage passes with Rex Anderson, cousin of The Tubes bassist Rick Anderson--Rick partied with us after the show - 1981
ChicagoFest on Navy Pier 1980--saw Gatemouth Brown, John Hammond, and Pure Prairie League
1978 - While talking to friends and unwittingly standing in front of the door to Dylan's bus, Bob himself came up to me, and said "Excuse me." I said "Great show, Bob!", as I patted him on the back. We shook hands, and he slid by me into his tour bus.
This show was also memorable in that our seats were right next to the Royal's George Brett, who was "hitting" on my date Cheryl Anderson when I came back from the concession stand!
My Billy Joel ticket cost $3 in 1976
1976- John Ruzick and I had tickets to see REO Speedwagon open for Elvin Bishop at the Uptown. Earlier that day, we went to Capers Corners to meet the band and get their new album "REO" autographed. I've still never seen an "opener" blow away the headliner like they did that night!
*Memorial Hall, KCK, (Capacity: 3,500)
While I was in high school, my friend Kevin Helliker knew the head ticket-taker at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. And Kevin was sometimes able to arrange for us to be "waived through" the doors for free! Of course, we then didn't have an assigned seat, and were expected to keep a low profile and stay out of trouble; but I saw 7 concerts this way: Supertramp ('75), Peter Frampton ('76), Arlo Guthrie ('76), Harry Chapin ('76), Uriah Heep/Rush ('76), Jesse Colin Young ('76), and Styx ('77)
3 months shy of my 16th birthday, I had a "learners permit", and my sister Jolene let me drive her old purple '67 Impala to the Tull show at Kemper Arena in the stockyard bottoms of KC. My companions included Mike Meyers (whose father was the KCK Chief of Police) and Tony Madl (who years later committed an infamous double murder/suicide). After the show, we stopped to talk with some friends we'd run into, and by the time we got to the car the parking lot was deserted. It was a frigid night, and the battery was dead because I had left the lights on. Finally, we found someone to give us a jump start, but we didn't get home on this school night until very late.
Jethro Tull 1973 -- my 1st rock concert!
Attended with Kevin, Jeff, Bart, and Jim-Boo.
