**International Boat ride to Goat Haunt, MT-- well worth the scenic trip; good hiking trail to Kootenai Lakes (we saw moose at the lakes)

**The Station Restaurant-- in the old train station

**Poppies Restaurant-- in the Chateau

*Lake Louise Inn-- nothing special, but a good value for the area; good restaurant, too

*Agnes Lake Teahouse-- a great hike

**Fiddle River Restaurant-- excellent seafood

**Villa Caruso-- extensive menu, well prepared

*Carlos' -- great breakfast spot

*Old Mill Motel -- next to a raging river

QUEBEC

**QUEBEC CITY (1998, 2011) -- fairy-tale like city, very European feel; dominated by the Le Chateau Frontenac hotel

*Chateau Bellevue-- prime location; 800-463-2617

**Auberge Place de Armes -- nice hotel, tremendous location

**L'Entrecote St. Jean-- good restaurant, unique steak frittes specialty, 1011 Rue St. Jean

*Casse-Crepe Breton -- awesome lunch spot, on St Jean

*Bistro Plus -- a less touristy, cheap dive bar on St Jean, if so inclined

**Bistro Le Figaro-- very good restaurant, french cuisine; 32 Rue St. Louis

St. Alexandre Pub -- somewhat stale from what I had remembered; ditto for St Patrick's pub

**MONTREAL (2011)

**Auberge du Vieux-Port -- fantastic hotel in the heart of the old port; awesome rooftop bar; on Rue Commune

**Vieux-Port Steakhouse -- really good for such a huge, touristy restaurant

*Jardins Nelson -- wonderful garden setting; live jazz

**Creperie Suzette -- their pure maple syrup made me a fan for life, on St. Paul Street

**Olympic Village -- take the Metro for a visit; the Observatory Tower is unforgettable

*Ca Roule -- bike rentals, ask for the "refurbished" for a good deal, 27 Rue de la Commune Est

**Lachine Loch canal bike path to Parc Renee-Levesque

*L’Uisine spaghetti -- just okay

*Fast Fou Bar -- great pommes frittes, on Rue Commune

NEW BRUNSWICK (2011)

ST LEONARD

*Daigle Motel and Diner -- the only game in town, but really good

*GREAT FALLS -- yes, the falls really are "great"

*HARTLAND -- the world's longest covered bridge; say no more

**HOPEWELL ROCKS -- walk on the ocean floor at the site of the world's highest/lowest tides, on the Fundy Bay coast

**ALMA

**Parkway Village Inn -- seaside motel and restaurant; lobster dip to die for

*ST MARTINS -- look for a roadside trailer serving the best lobster rolls

**Fundy Bay Parkway & Trail -- private fee park; spectacular 10 mile trail is mostly high above the beautiful coastline, can be hiked or driven

ANTIGONESH -- if you can't make Cape Breton; kind of a pretty college town

Clayborn Hotel -- overpriced

Boston Pizza -- only place to get a late meal

EDMUNDSTON

*Le Deck restaurant

NOVA SCOTIA (2011)

*INVERNESS -- on the famed Ceilidh Trail scenic drive

*Inverness Beach Village -- kind of an RV park with modular cottages; kind of neat in the off-season at least

*Hoff Pub -- nice view, good pub food

*Coal Miners Cafe -- good breakfast spot

**CAPE BRETON NATIONAL PARK

**Skyline Trail hike

**Cyburn Valley Trail for mountain biking

**Freshwater Lake trail for hiking or biking

**INGONISH BEACH -- as pretty as it gets

**Keltic Lodge -- not cheap, but an awesome setting, fantastic fine dining, cool pub; one of the nicest places I've ever stayed

*BADDECK

**Inverrary Resort -- reasonably priced, with a great waterfront restaurant and great pub on-site

*SHERBROOKE

*Island View -- good lunch spot

**HALIFAX -- Pt. Pleasant Park has wonderful bike and hiking trails near downtown

*Halifax Citadel Hotel -- well situated near Argyll St, decent place for a highrise, good value on Hotels.com

*Triangle Ale House -- often has live music, good "craic"

**Five Fishermen Restaurant -- good lobster meal

**PEGGY'S COVE -- stunning

*Sou Wester restaurant
